Discounted Price Calculator
Apply a single percentage discount to an original price and calculate the remaining selling price.
Use this to find a final price from a known percentage discount. Use markup or product profit to assess whether that price is economically viable.
What the result means
This is the price remaining after the discount, not the amount saved. A 100% discount makes the price zero, while a 0% discount leaves it unchanged.
The formula
Original price * (1 - discount percentage / 100)
Results are displayed to at most two decimal places. Calculations use the unrounded inputs.
A worked example
Put the formula to work
- Original price (currency)
- 80
- Discount percentage (%)
- 15
Discounted price (input currency): 68.00
A 15% reduction on an original price of 80 removes 12 and leaves a discounted price of 68.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the original price on the intended tax basis.
- Specify the single discount percentage to apply.
- Multiply the price by the fraction remaining after the reduction.
- Check profit using the reduced price before publishing the offer.
Why this number matters
Calculating the final price explicitly avoids treating a percentage reduction as a flat currency amount or overlooking its effect on product economics.
Input definitions
- Original price (currency)
- The genuine base price before this discount; use the same tax basis as the intended final price.
- Discount percentage (%)
- A single reduction between 0 and 100 percentage points; enter 15 for fifteen percent.
Assumptions and limitations
- Does not apply shipping charges, tax rules, coupon caps, or minimum order conditions.
- Stacked discounts must be applied sequentially, not added together.
- Uses numeric arithmetic rather than a jurisdiction-specific billing rounding policy.
